En las últimas décadas, el turismo residencial o de segundas residencias ha atraído la atención de estudiosos del turismo en México. A pesar de que éste no es un fenómeno nuevo, se ha incrementado notablemente en los últimos años, sobre todo en costas, fronteras y ciudades coloniales. Conceptualmente, el turismo residencial difiere de las nociones convencionales del turismo, por lo que se requiere de un marco explicativo de mayor envergadura para dar cuenta de su compleja movilidad, marcada por la vinculación del turista con un mercado inmobiliario que genera impactos ambientales y socioculturales más directos con la población local, debido a la apropiación territorial de los recursos y la relación que se establece a mediano y largo plazo entre turistas residenciales y pobladores locales.

En el caso de México la cultura azteca o mexicana se desarrolló en el Valle de México en un medio ambiente acuático, donde se construyó un paisaje cultural de chinampas y canales. En este contexto, la UNESCO se dio la tarea de correlacionar lo que es la cultura del agua de un pueblo con la oferta natural y sus características etnográficas. El objetivo de este trabajo es identificar, registrar y sistematizar el conocimiento en relación a lo que los pueblos hacían y siguen haciendo con el agua, en el agua y por el agua.

Este libro es una antología coordinada, editada y traducida por Marcedes Martínez González con la colaboración de Roberto González Rodríguez y Abel Rodríguez Carrillo. La antología reúne textos sobre antropología del diseño y antropología visual escritos por el profesor de antropología de la Aarhus University en Dinamarca, Ton Ott, algunos con la colaboración de los especialistas en antropología del diseño Rachel Charlotte Smith, de la misma universidad, y Mette Gislev Kjaersgaard, de la University of Sauthern Denmark. Lo que aquí se presenta es una compilación de textos diversos que los autores han publicado en inglés en diferentes revistas y libros, incluyendo la introducción que Otto y Smith escribieron para el libro <em>Design Anthropology. "La pandemia de covid-19 es una de las manifestaciones más notorias de los procesos globales que están afectando a la humanidad. Los efectos de las actividades antropogénicas y los cambios climáticos, demográficos y tecnológicos han modificado los patrones de riesgo de las enfermedades infecciosas en las últimas décadas. Estas enfermedades han aparecido cada vez con mayor frecuencia debido a múltiples factores, entre los que se encuentran la destrucción de los ecosistemas naturales, la urbanización, la intensificación de la agricultura, la industrialización y el cambio climático. Estas enfermedades se propagan inesperadamente a sitios donde antes no ocurrían, debido a los cambios en los patrones de distribución geográfica de las especies patógenas y a su rápida dispersión gracias a la gran conectividad global. Este libro pretende mostrar que la emergencia de las pandemias tiene un profundo sustento en la destrucción de la naturaleza y la pérdida irreversible de la biodiversidad. El análisis de los procesos ecológicos y evolutivos contribuirá a entender los mecanismos, la persistencia y la aparición de nuevas variantes de patógenos causantes de enfermedades infecciosas."

Esta es una contribución que reúne varias disciplinas que abordan saberes antropológicos y arqueológicos de la cultura mesoamericana en el intento por imaginar cómo fue posible que los botánicos ancestrales domesticaran la planta del maíz, cómo fue posible que las tecnólogas ancestrales inventaran la nixtamalización de sus granos y cómo fue posible que las gastrónomas ancestrales crearan ese alimento llamado tortilla que perdura hasta nuestros días. En esta obra se expone la relevante labor del maíz en la alimentación de los habitantes de Mesoamérica, desde los indicios de su aparición y consecuente domesticación, el desarrollo de la nixtamalización como técnica ancestral que ha permitido incrementar la calidad nutrimental del grano, evitar la aparición de enfermedades como la pelagra y abatir las hambrunas de personas con recursos económicos limitados.

Con este volumen se pretende ofrecer un acercamiento en profundidad a las situaciones de contacto del español con otras lenguas para mostrar cómo las variaciones y cambios lingüísticos que se producen en dichas áreas forman parte de las dinámicas lingüísticas que caracterizan estas situaciones complejas. Se busca así analizar de manera general y sistemática distintos procesos de variaciones y cambio lingüístico, y explicitar los mecanismos que los han producido tanto en su dimensión diacrónica como sincrónica.
A partir del análisis comparado de datos reales de hablantes bilingües y monolingües de zonas de contacto, se intenta reflejar la capacidad de los hablantes para explotar la heterogeneidad lingüística y crear estrategias, aprovechando la plasticidad de los rasgos lingüísticos, que hagan emerger soluciones novedosas que los reorganicen, reutilicen o transformen en un diálogo constante con su contexto socio-identitario.
