Su ocupación se extiende desde el período Preclásico hasta el Posclásico. El sitio sirvió como sede de una dinastía real durante el período Clásico. Sus reyes dominaron la región de Petexbatún durante los siglos V y VI d.C. antes de ser incorporados en el reinado de Dos Pilas durante el siglo VII y parte del siglo VIII d.C.
